CANYONING SCHOOL LEVEL 2 HIGH ALPS, 1-8/10/2022
The Chichin at the end of the Freissinieres valley is one of the most beautiful canyons in France. It is one of our goals during the Level 2 course. You will learn to master this canyon. Several sections can also be walked individually due to various exit options. The most spectacular moment is the 50 meter high final waterfall, which can be accessed over several abseiling lines.
To refresh and expand our techniques from level 1, we visit the small but fine canyoning pearl Beal Noir. One abseil point follows the other seamlessly, the ascent takes only 20 minutes, so it is easy to do the tour several times. The first round is used for repetition and during the second we expand our technical repertoire.
We enjoy some beautiful and exciting sections.
The Pra Reboul is another canyon in which the abseiling points are lined up in direct succession. Here we get used to high abseiling points and a strong water flow. We learn how to manage abseiling points with several sections and how to avoid sharp edges using deflection hooks. We also have the opportunity to improve our kick skills here.
Special rope techniques such as rappel guide, guided abseiling, are best practiced in the “dry” at the bridge that crosses the Durance in Argentiere. This is also the best place to practice climbing techniques on the rope. Special hooks are provided for this purpose and the white water course underneath provides for cooling.
Some canyons are very aquatic due to a high flow of water, so it makes sense to be familiar with the various forms of flow.
In my course you will learn different jumping techniques, systems for rescuing from running water, different swimming techniques and the analysis and assessment of currents. I train all of this in an artificially created whitewaterKayak route which is only 15 minutes away from our holiday home.
We will of course deepen this during the canyoning tours.
One of the canyons that should not be missing on a canyoning course in the High Alps is the Chichin, a legendary canyoning tour in France.
A high water flow, slides and jumps as well as an incomparably impressive final waterfall characterize this highlight. Let yourself be surprised.
The goal of the course is the safe ascent of the Oules de Freissinieres gorge , which lies at the end of the valley and which has been voted one of the absolute top tours in Europe.
Here we can use all the techniques that we have learned and deepened in the last few days. For this canyon alone, the trip to the High Alps is worth it!
